Dedicated for PC ISA bus extended serial port or external PS2 mouse, extended serial port function and extended PS2 mouse are two functions to choose, selected by onboard jumper.Suitable for old PC ISA slot expansion function or external PS2 mouse.
Insert the expansion card into the computer's ISA slot, the default IO address of the serial port card is 0x2F8, and the interrupt number used is IRQ3.The PS2 mouse simulates the serial port mouse through the onboard protocol converter and is connected to COM2.You can find the mouse by directly running the Mouse driver under DOS.
If the computer motherboard has a COM2 port and there is a conflict with the IO port address of the expansion card, please short-circuit the jumper P1 with the jumper cap provided, and the serial port chip uses the IO port address of COM4.COM2 and COM4 use the same interrupt number, and the P2 jumper does not need to be changed. It can still work normally using IRQ3.
After the expansion card is powered on, the red and green indicators flash, and the external PS2 mouse starts to be initialized. If the mouse is initialized successfully, both the red and green lights go out. When the computer's operating system DOS or Windows loads the mouse driver, the expansion card responds to the mouse initialization operation and then lights up the green indicator light. After that, if there is a mouse button or mouse movement operation, the red indicator light flashes, indicating that the corresponding data content is sent to the host through the serial port.
The connection effect diagram of the expansion card inserted into the expansion slot of the IBM -PC/XT machine motherboard is shown below.
The mouse simulates the working characteristics of the COM port mouse of the original PC to interface with the computer, so no additional driver is required, and only the standard computer mouse driver is required to work.
The original RS232 interface mouse is mostly designed as a power-saving mechanical structure roller mouse because it uses the RS232 interface for power supply, which cannot meet the power consumption requirements of 30-50mA for most optical mice. This card is innovatively designed and uses the ISA slot to solve the needs of power supply and communication protocol conversion. It has smooth operation and performance far exceeding the traditional DB9 serial port mouse.
